Description/Reviews
This relatively short album (41 minutes from beginning to end) gets underway with Belief and you can hear some of the generic sound that crosses over from Heliopolis yet here it has a more serious note to it. The introduction is a nicely discordant prog-fest before a coolly strummed guitar leads in Scott’s distinctive vocal, underscored by a jazzily constructed soundtrack. The funky, heavier riffs add substance and the punchy drums drive it all along. It is that modern style of progressive rock, similar to Elephants of Scotland, with edgy time changes and an honest virtuosity. A coruscating guitar run with just a hint of feedback adds a hint of mischief to proceedings as the track closes out. All for You is a brief ray of benevolent sunshine, the harmonies are lovely and Scott’s voice is a thing of delicate wonder. This track is over far too early, I found it really uplifting.
