Description/Reviews
They may not be the most hyped current Manchester band, or the one with the most vocal hometown support, but Dutch Uncles might be the best. Their third album proper, ‘Out Of Touch In The Wild’ sees them evolve into the Field Music you can dance to – or the Talk Talk you can smile to. This is thanks to clinically clean production, a pensive, taut mood that pervades throughout, and about a billion xylophone bongs. It’s a touch clever-clever, from the perplexing one-word titles (‘Pondage’, the brilliant ‘Fester’) to the abundance of Peter Gabriel-like cerebro-pop stylings, but they’re Dutch Uncles, not Dumb Uncles. Long may they brain.
