Description/Reviews
Inside is fifty-five minutes of guitar craziness; all kinds of guitar sounds and all kinds of styles mixed and blended together. The opening “Instable Perception” [4:34] displays a mix of both acoustic and electric jazz fusion feels, while the next track “Room 88” [4:48] is more blues based. Track three is “The Kraken” [4:58] and as the name implies is much harder edge launching with some crunchy guitar riffs before falling into some very clever double tracked guitar lead lines. The jazz, rock and even folk influences are everywhere, sometimes in the same track giving these compositions a distinct proggy feel. Nothing stays in one-place very long, the songs slip and slide from one feel to the next before returning to the tunes original core riff or melody. Then we have piece like the short “Mountain View” [1:38] which simply acoustic guitar and flute. You can pretty much pick a guitar or music style and there will be a tune on Inside that samples that; from the smooth jazz-fusion of “Simplexity” [5:15] to the Celtic-flavoured prog on “Crop Circles” [7:01]. I could go on; but it’s safe to say he’s pulled out all the stops and offered up a real guitar-buffet.
